History
Gold Meat Belgium N.V. was founded in 1972. The company began as a modest company specialised in the production of traditional head products. The cornerstones of Gold Meat's success were laid with the traditional preparation methods and the unique flavour and quality of the various cuts of meat (which are incorporated into the various meat products). To obtain these cuts, the pickled and cooked pig's heads are still butchered entirely by hand.
Just as ham from the hock prepared on the bone has a better, more authentic, taste, so too is the taste of the meat from the pig's head much improved when it has first been pickled and cooked with/on the bone. As a result, the various recipes based on these products with such pure and authentic flavours also obtain a unique taste, and the quality of the final product benefits accordingly.
What makes Gold Meat so exceptional is that the company has succeeded in continuing to produce its products with respect for tradition and craftsmanship; large portions of the preparation process are still performed by hand, where necessary assisted by innovative industrial production techniques, yet always in keeping with the artistry of the time-honoured methods.
On 30 March 1995 a new limited company, Gold Meat International N.V., was established to operate in cooperation with the production company, Gold Meat Belgium N.V. This new company, since renamed Delitrade N.V., bears responsibility for the marketing and commercialisation, specialised packaging activities and delivery of the sliced cold meat assortment produced by Gold Meat Belgium N.V.
The new and thoroughly renovated industrial buildings occupied by both companies contain 6,000 m² of floor space on a site occupying more than 21,000 m²; together the two companies employ more than 50 persons.
In the niche of gelatine and aspic products, GoldMeat/Delitrade has become the market leader in the Benelux and the largest importer in Germany and France.
